What is Veggie Con?

Veggie Con 2019 was the first annual community event involving all things fruit and vegetable. The goal of Veggie Con was simple. Bring together local farmers, healthy focused businesses, and the community to raise awareness of the benefits of eating more produce. We saw many booths from these local organizations and exhibitors who provided samples or sold products that were sustainable and local, promoted their services, or recruited volunteers for other local events. It was a great opportunity to form connections with other organizations in the conversation for good, healthy, green, local food.

Veggie Con also included a lot of fun activities for kids of all ages! There was potato sack races, bobbing for apples, orange bowling, and more to get people up and moving. Face painting and temporary tattoos were available. We were so excited to offer this event in Southeast Kent County to spread the love of all things veggie and have a lot of fun while doing it. It was a veggie good time!

We are already dreaming about next year! Would you like to be involved in a micro run (think 1 lap around a parking lot or less) to raise funds for local micro greens? How about a homemade costume contest, with the best veggie or fruit winning? These are all things we have in mind for next year! We would love for you to be a part of the fun! If you would like to help us plan next year’s event, email to get in on the action early.
